Studio

As I first stepped into the studio I was getting really nervous. As I found a seat Mrs. Waterson stepped into the class. As she gave us all a sheet she asked us some questions but Liam answered almost all of them. When the questions were all answered she asked us if we wanted horizontal or vertical board for our quiz. The fun thing about the board was that we had to build the board for ourselves. We had to cut the stands for the board, sandpaper the pieces for the board, drill holes in the sides with a press drill for the wires to come out and glue all the pieces of the board together. Everybody that had finished their board got a kit with wires, small bulbs and a battery. Liam and I made the bulb flash by connecting wires. When the next lesson came we had to connect wires and thread them through the holes and solder the wires down. My quiz was almost complete, I just had to put my picture onto the quiz. I quickly and carefully placed my picture on my board. My quiz was complete. I now know how to solder, thread wires and I got better at using sandpaper. My quiz was about the weather and this was the best subject at technology for me.

Pita Bread Recipe

If you like the look of these Pita Bread try making your own with this recipe below. Pita Bead Ingredients:
2 ½ c flour
1t salt
1T sugar
1T yeast
2T olive oil
1C hot water (60-65º)
Method:
Into a large mixing bowl measure 1 cup of the flour and stir in the dry ingredients. Add the oil and water. Mix for about 30 seconds to blend and then beat vigorously with a wooden spoon for 3 minutes. The dough should be a rough shaggy mass that will clean the sides of the bowl.
Stir in the balance of the flour’ ½ c at a time.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured board and knead for 6 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 250ºC.
Divide the dough into 8 Pieces. Roll into balls, cover with a paper towel and let them rest for 20 minutes.
With the palm of your hand, flatten each ball into a disc. Then roll out into a 12-15cm disc. The thinness is more important than the shape.
Place 2 or 3 of them onto an oven tray and bake for 5 minutes. Repeat with the remaining dough. They should not brown too much.

Bakers in the making

As part of the containers unit one of the year 8 groups made Pita Bread. The smells drifting out of the foods room were wonderful.

Have a look at the Photo Story video Simon made of the Pita Bread making process. See if you can spot the slide that is out of place ... look carefully!

In this photo year 7&8 are cooking.
Making kebabs

First you chose what meat you wanted.

Then you cut them into little pieces, not too small, just so you can put on your stick.

Then when they’re cut you need to put them on your stick.

Then let them cook on the bbq for a few minutes. you can tell they’re cooked when they’re brown not pink.

Remember to twist every couple of minutes.

And the best part is now you get to eat them.

I learnt how to cook meat and I learnt on the bbq you have to be very careful.

muffins

We made these delicious muffins with Miss skuse at the technology centre at Plimmerton school. They were really delicious and we all ate the muffins.
one of the skills I learnt was how to put the muffins in the oven with oven mitts so you wouldn’t burn yourself.

Studio work

This is a picture of an electronic quiz made by Postage school year 7&8.
To make an electronic quiz you must firstly make a cover from the computer with a title, a few pictures and the names of the pictures as well (Pictures and names must be separated, also don’t forget to print and laminate your cover you made/make !)

Secondly you must have an A5 piece of flat wood with two flat wooden stand-ups at the back of the A5 piece of flat wood to stand your work up.

Thirdly you must staple your cover on the A5 piece of flat wood then drill a hole next to each picture on your laminated cover.

That is all I know of how to make an electronic

But the thing I learned about the most was soldering, It was pretty hard and I got burnt a lot but It was still fun.
